Why are care experience surveys important?

Care experience surveys are a useful way of identifying areas that need improvement in the delivery of health and social care and provide service providers with detailed information on how to fix these problems. By listening and learning from the experiences of patients we can bring about effective and sustainable changes across the Irish health and social care systems.

National Care Experience Programme Strategy 2022 – 2024

The National Care Experience Programme was established in 2019 to improve the quality of health and social care services in Ireland by asking people about their experiences of care and acting on their feedback. It is a partnership between HIQA, the HSE and the Department of Health, with representatives of people using services providing their input at each stage of the programme. A three-year strategy has been developed for the period 2022 to 2024, which sets out a plan to develop and expand its programme of work over the next three years. Click below to view the strategy.
