The results of the 2017 and 2018 National Inpatient Experience Surveys highlighted areas needing improvement in each of the seven hospitals in the Saolta Hospital Group, in particular regarding food choices, staff introductions, and respect and dignity in the emergency department. To address these areas and other patient concerns, Saolta Hospital Group developed a series of actions aimed at improving the patient experience.
These included overall strategic actions for the hospital group and site-specific quality improvement plans, with an emphasis on the inclusion of patients, families and carers. In order to sustain the quality improvement plans, the hospital group will measure key performance indicators and set target goals. These actions will serve as the basis for future plans and priorities regarding the improvement of patient experience in the hospitals in the Saolta Hospital Group.
