Women aged 16 years or older who give birth in October 2019 (and November in smaller maternity units and for homebirths) will be invited to participate and tell us about their maternity experience. All responses will be used to improve Ireland’s maternity services.
The National Maternity Experience Survey is a new nationwide survey which offers eligible new mothers the opportunity to share their experiences of Ireland’s maternity experience in order to improve the quality and safety of care provided to women and their babies.
This month we are visiting all 19 participating maternity hospitals and units to inform midwives and other hospital staff about the survey.
The survey is part of the National Care Experience Programme, a partnership between HIQA, the Health Service Executive (HSE) and the Department of Health.
