Survey hub launched to assist in the development of care experience surveys

11 October 2020 Press release

We are happy to launch our new Survey Hub today, 14 October 2020. The aim of the hub is to support health and social care providers to develop and implement their own care experience surveys.

The hub provides advice on how to develop and implement a survey, interpret the findings, and make improvements based on the results. A broad range of resources are available, including e-learning modules, presentations, podcasts and guidance. Rachel Flynn, Director of the National Care Experience Programme, said: “Listening to the experiences of people who use health and social care services is
internationally accepted as a measure of the quality and safety of care. Care experience surveys are a useful way of finding areas that need improvement in the delivery of health and social care, and provide insights on how to make these improvements.

“In developing and implementing both the National Inpatient Experience Survey and the new National Maternity Experience Survey, we have developed considerable expertise in conducting surveys. The purpose of the hub is to share this knowledge and support healthcare providers to understand how to measure patient and service-user experience.

“It is by listening and learning from the experiences of people using services that we can bring about effective and sustainable changes across the Irish health and social care systems.”
