In November 2018, St John’s Hospital invited Mr. Stephen McMahon, Chairperson of the Irish Patients Association, to give a talk to staff on communicating with patients.
McMahon facilitated two sessions, covering the following topics:
- the importance of listening to the voice of the patient
- the importance of giving clear information to the patient
- the importance of body language when interacting with the patients
- the benefits of excellent patient communication.
Staff from all departments attended the talk.
